Modernizing Legacy Insurance Systems Through Digital Portals

Designing a versatile, component-driven UI framework for agent and customer portals across P&C and LA&H.

As Lead Designer for Digital1st at Majesco, I created a reusable component library and configurable portals that modernized access to legacy insurance systems. Starting with Church Pension Group blueprinting and wireframes that evolved into a prototype, we scaled the approach across multiple clients, delivering responsive agent and customer experiences while building in parallel with the larger P&C Policy Administration platform redesign.

The Challenge

Legacy systems were complex, siloed, and provided poor UX for agents/customers.

Need for versatility: Different clients (P&C vs LA&H, varying requirements) without rebuilding everything from scratch.

Client-specific constraints (e.g., integration challenges like USIC/BondPro).

My Approach / Process

As Lead Designer for Digital1st, I was deeply involved in all client blueprinting sessions, translating requirements into solutions. We started with Church Pension Group, creating wireframes during the blueprinting process that evolved into an interactive prototype. This became the foundation for our work.

  • Built a modular, reusable component library that enabled consistent yet configurable UIs across different portals and requirements.
  • Iteratively scaled the solution by expanding functionality for subsequent clients while preserving core versatility.
  • Delivered all portals as fully responsive experiences.


This approach allowed us to efficiently deliver tailored portals on top of legacy systems while maintaining design consistency and accelerating development.
